This book was published during the peak of the popularity in Japan in the 1960s and 1970s. It was intended to help people recognize good stones from different regions of Japan. The majority of the book is photographs of suiseki with brief commentary about stone. At the end, Murata Keiji contributed a useful summary of the history of suiseki after 1925 in Japan. It includes a beautiful biseki malachite stone from Madagascar proving that non-Japanese stones were collected and appreciated in Japan at this time.

Used, dustjacket is worn at the edges and with a few tears. The book and binding is very good, no loose pages.
