Chrysanthemum stones are very distinctive because of their conspicuous whitish mineral formations that resemble chrysanthemum flowers. The gray to dark marine limestone matrix typically contrast with the mineral “flowers.” They are known from 21 locations, mainly in southern China in Hubei and Hunan Provinces but also in other provinces.
