Natural turquoise is hard, beautiful, and has easily recognizable and distinctive colors. Most turquoise occurs in small pieces and is made into jewelry. Only a few rare and unusually large pieces are suitable as viewing stones. It is found with or near major copper deposits. Hubei Province is a major producer of turquoise today.
