Ying Stones ( 英石 ) are typically surface-weathered limestone from Yingde in Guangdong province. Surface weathering frequently results in stones with sharp edges and angles. They are usually varying shades of gray, although nearly black Ying stones are known. New stones are often light gray, weathering to darker shades with time.
