“Waterfall of Spirits”
One of the joys of viewing stone appreciation is looking at a waterfall stone and mentally feeling and hearing water cascading down the steep mountain side. Exceptional waterfall stones like this one are rare. Actually, there are two waterfalls, the main one in the center of the stone, and a smaller narrower waterfall to left. The two waterfalls join near the mountain's base before hitting the splash pool. The whitish colored mineral veins suggesting two waterfalls are present only on the front of this stone and not on the back side. This Italian Ligurian Polombino stone was collected by Angelo Pondini many years ago. Pondini made the elegant base carved to fit the contours of the stone. This stone measures 19 x 15 x 10 cm and is in the private collection of Marcial Yuste Blasco.
