Stone of the Month:

Cascata

In this orientation, the Italian Palombino stone is symbolic of a waterfall slowly cutting into its face. It was found on an excursion in Luguria by Gian Luigi Enny, a well-known connoisseur of viewing stones and their display. The stone, typically grayish colored, was formed between 60 and 140 million years ago in the ancient Ligurian-Piedmontese Sea. Weathered Ligurian Palombino stones are highly regarded for their resemblance to natural landscape features such as mountains and arches.

Turning this stone ninety degrees to the left changes its suggestive form from a waterfall to a nice natural hut stone (kuzuya-ishi). This stone is in the private collection of Gian Luigi Enny.
