The Great Overhang”

By Dato’ Chua Kok Hwa

This Yellow Wax stone features a stand alone explosive overhanging cliff that projects outward high above a lake. It has natural pits and pockets that are eroded and developed over millions of years in changing climatic environments. Standing on the overhang, mountaineers can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the lake and surrounding landscape.

The overhanging cliff is a natural shelter for wildlife. It has a rugged cave. Its rock buttress serves as a gigantic pillar that supports, balances, and stabilizes the overhanging cliff.

The Yellow Wax stone originates from Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It has a natural patina, and measures 34 cm long, 17 cm high, and 21cm wide. It weighes 6.2 kg and measures a 6 on the Mohs Hardiness scale. This stone was acquired from a Ipoh stone dealer and is in the personal collection of Dato’ Chua Kok Hwa.
