“Memories on Grassy Knoll”

An old hut sits silently on a grassy knoll overlooking a river valley. At one time, it housed a family struggling for existence. Now, it serves as a summer weekend retreat for someone.



This small Japanese hut stone is displayed in a circular bronze tray with a raised bed covered with moss. This is not a typical Japanese susieki display, but a variant sometimes used on special occasions. It also serves as an intermediate form between typical suiseki displays and tray landscape arrangements known as bonkei.
